A Study on Health -Promotion Lifestyle and its Affecting Factors of Middle aged Women

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was not only to assess how middle aged women practice their Health-promoting Lifestyle but also to identify those affecting determinants.

Methods: A total of 254 items of data were obtained from randomly selected subjects in the rural city. These data were collected by self-administered questionnaire from October 15 to November14, 2006.This study examined Health-promoting Lifestyle using In Sook Park¡¯s model and Affect factors using Pender¡¯s model and tried to find out their relationships. The instruments used in this study were Health-promoting Life profile developed by In Sook Pa°¡(1995). Likert¡¯s four-point scale was used also in this research. The percentage, mean, standard deviation, ANOVA, Pearson¡¯s correlation and multiple regression in the SAS package were used to analyze the data.

Results: The results of this study were as follows;
1. The average score of the performance in Health-promoting lifestyle variable was 2.54 which was lower than previous study. The harmonious relationship was 3.33 which was the highest score, dietary life 3.17, emotional support 2.91. The variable with the highest degree of performance was the harmonious relationship, whereas the one with the lowest degree was the professional health maintenance.
2. In Perceived benefits of action, there were significant differences with age (p¡´0.05), marital status (p¡´0.05),income (p¡´0.05), in perceived barriers of action there were significant differences with age (p¡´0.01), marital status (p¡´0.01), perceived health status (p¡´0.05). In perceived selfefficacy, there were significant differences with educational level, childrens, menopause status, perceived health status. In social support there were significant differences with religion and marital status.
3. Health-promoting lifestyle performance showed significants differences with age, religoin, marital status, incomes and perceived health status. Health promoting lifestyle performance showed significant correlations with perceived benefits to action, perceived barriers to action, perceived self-efficacy, and social support (p¡´0.01)
4. Multiple regression analysis revealed that the powerful predictors were perceived health status, perceived barriers to action, perceived self-efficacy, and social support and they accounted for 45.6% of the variance in health-promoting Lifestyle patterns.
